Fench or German ?!

Question: Fench or German !?
Im going to be a sophmore and I don't know which one to take!

I am also going to take my third year of Spanish as well!.

I know French and Spanish are more similar then German and Spanish but if I take French I am afraid I will get confused because of they are so similar!.

also, more people take French than German so maybe I should take German!?!?!?

And finally, wich one do you think will be more usefull and why (keep in mind I have no idea what my career will be)!?

Thank you so much my people!

French is one of the widest recognized languages in the world besides English and Spanish, and it isn't that close to Spanish!. On the other hand, German is no bad idea either, it has some Latin and also Greek roots, besides, if you ever decide on visiting Germany, you'll notice that many Germans speak English and will try to help you with everything!. About your career: it is my personal belief that if you take up French, you may have more opportunities, but you'll also have more competition, so why not give German a try!.!.!.:-) Note: my answer may be considered biased by the YA users who know that I am the leader of the board of YC Germany, but since I speak English and French too, I think I know what I'm talking about!.!.!.

Additional info which may be interesting for you: http://www!.mylanguageexchange!.com/voiceC!.!.!. - this site lets you chat with people from 115 different countries!. There are lesson plans, half of the time you will be talking in your native tongue, the other half you will be speaking your contact's language - a great way to practice a new language!.

Edit: it took a while to phrase my answer, and I was truly surprised about how many users voted for German in the meantime!. Besides being active on YC and YA, I also work as a volunteer at the Druckladen (printing shop) of the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, Germany, and I would like to invite you all to come and visit us! Note: this is a nonprofit place, so please don't regard this info as spam!
http://www!.zeitenwende!.com/gutenberg/ - this is the homepage of the "Druckladen" (printing shop) in Mainz, Germany!. We are trying to keep traditions alive by collecting and working with old letter presses and teaching visitors of all ages and nationalities how printing was done a long time ago!. At the same time we try to show that by using some of those old techniques you can create beautiful works of art!. On the title page you may click on "Der Film über uns" (the video about us) - that is the link to a short clip taken by a TV team around X-mas in 2007, it displays the Druckladen and also portrays me teaching some children to print their own X-mas cards (I'm the lady giving an interview sitting on a chair)!. You may not understand all of the words as the homepage and the video are in German, but you'll get a pretty good idea about the place nethertheless!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Du musst Deutcsh tun! (You must do German)!. This is my second year I'm doing German and to me German will take you very far in life, because you can get a scholarship in Deutschland(Germany)!. German is also easier than French to me!. This reason is also because I speak English and Afrikaans and German is close to Afrikaans, because they are both Indo-European languages!. It will also not be that difficult to learn German if you also speak English!. French is a very difficult Language!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you're Scottish (like me) then German is great because the accents are similar!. They use a lot of 'chkkkkh' noises too - the sound you make (if you're Scottish and you can) at the end of 'loch'!. No, everybody, it's not the same as 'lock'!

French is quite pretty, but it's too fiddly for the likes of me!. German also has words really similar to English, like blau (blue), FuBball (football - the big B is supposed to be tset which is 'ss') and hallo (I'm not even going to bother with a translation)!.

French seems more useful, but German what I like best!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

French and Spanish are no more similar than English is to the two!. French is a beuatiful language to speak/hear!. Of course there are common root words (try Latin), but sentence structure in French is totally different!. I think they'd be equally useful, but French would be more fun!. I had 2 years of French in High school, 2 more in college, and 2 years of Latin in high school!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

my dad is fluent in German, and he says it was hard to learn!.

And i know many people who took French 1,2, and 3 and they said that its alot like learning Spanish, they have alot of cognates that help you because the words are similar in english!.

Depends if you want to use that language and go abroad, i would determine that before choosing a language!.
would you rather goto france and speak french or goto germany and speak german!?

i decided to take french!. a huge percent of the world speaks french, either as a first or second language!. so its great if you want to travel!. also, french gives alot of words to english, so it will improve your english vocabulary as well!. german will probably only help you if you go to germany really, and its really hard to learn!. good luck choosing though!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because German isn't really that common, it would open up some great scolarship opportunities!. And since you already speak spanish, you could get a lot of scolarships!.

I have to say take German, even though, as a French speaker, i am bias toward French!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I take french!. It's a rather easy subject!. My mother back at her place used to take spanish students also!. I know for a fact that they do not seem simular whatsoever!. Sure, several words are the same, but it's nothing to confuse you!. I'd pick french!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
