Survey: Has digital technology spoiled the joy of music?!

Question: Survey: Has digital technology spoiled the joy of music!?
I am 27, and I can remember not so long ago, the thrill of crowding round the stereo with my friends, listening to tapes/cds we got!.

The joy of music was discovering an album, listening to it in it's entirety, and appreciating what the artists had to offer!. also, digesting a few albums at a time was much more satisfying!.

No we can pick and choose which tracks we download, and MP3 can be obtained freely (often illegally)!.

Have we lost the true joy of music or has MP3/other forms of digital compression improved the way we listen to music!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I don't think digital technology has spoiled the joy of music as such, but as far as the music album goes downloads have changed a lot!.

With the ability to download songs one by one, general appreciation for the music album has gone down!. Once upon a time the songs belonged to the album, you could listen to it from start to finish and get the theme or message of it!. Now its just a bunch of quick-selling singles with short-lived popularity and shelf life!.

The actual audio quality of the music may be better in digital format, but that doesn't necessarily make the music-listening experience better!. I just can't compare listening to a song with earbud headphones to listened to an old Cat Stevens or Neil Diamond record on mum's old record player - rumbles the floorboards, who cares if its a bit crackly!? I am 18 btw!.

What digital technology has done is make music available to a much wider audience, remove the obstacle of money so that even unemployed teenagers can get free access to all the music that exists (to the dismay of the artists)!. As far as digital recording goes, it has opened up many new possiblities for the artists themselves and allowed many people to get their music out there independently!.

But the true joy of music is still there!. You can easily download an album to your mp3 player/ipod, plug it into a stereo and listen to Coldplay's Viva la Vida and realise that music will always be music!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm 25 and I don't agree with you!. I used to get so annoyed with tapes, having to turn them over, and a song you may not like on it, you can't just skip!.
Cd's get scratched too easy, and I get bored with the same artist sometimes!.
I love the fact that all my music can be put on one device, have it portable and I can listen to what I want when I want where I want!.

i'm 27 and i think mp3 players are one of the greatest inventions ever!.they let you cut out the crap and just keep your favorites!. plus remember having to walk around with a big bulky tape or cd player and whatever music you had in there you were stuck with all day, unless you carried a backpack to hold all your tapes or cd's!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Music is so easily available now and people can't appreciate it the way they used to!. the can listen to any music they want for once and then never again!.
it's sad!.!.!. that's why I prefer to buy the music most of the time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I guess so!. Just sit down and listen to the radio with some friends!.

Playing them and just sitting there and laughing at the bad songs and singing along with the good songs lol!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
