Ok, just to clarify it for you in lay mans terms!. You work your way from the top to the bottom of the alphabet Yes!? A being at the top and Z being at the bottom!. So to descend means to go down, so you descend your way through the alphabet from A-Z!. Ascend means to go up, so you work your way back up through the alphabet from Z-A!.
