I must say that I am surprised to see this question come from the "Prince of Poetry"!. I was all but certain, a man who is known for his eloquently elaborate, richly romantic, desirably descriptive poetic verse, a man who has penned short stories that powerfully and vividly portray images through language of lust and desire, offering your readers the uniquely rare opportunity to "feel" as if they are in the very profoundly felt moment of love, lust, romance and so many other emotions that fall somewhere in between the three!. So, why is it my dear Prince you pose this question!? Because I respect you, your character, your courage and yes, your poetry (while vulgar at times), I shall offer you my answer, for whatever it may or may not be worth!.
It is my experience that a man does not know how to love a woman in the way a woman desires to be loved!. As you are quite aware, we literally are two different species, even though we are both considered species of the 'humankind"!. We are not only different for the obviously physical appearances but we are wired differently as well!. Please, let me clarify what I mean when I refer to being "wired differently"!. Our brains are wired to think, respond and react differently, therefore men and women are cognitively unlike one another in so many verifiable ways!. It is a well known scientific fact that our brain is the organ that creates and determines our emotions, we we must also consider ourselves emotionally wired differently (in fact, one might argue that this is the most drastic difference between the two)!. We are also wired differently when it comes to the senses; women tend to be more sensative to touch, smell and hearing while men are more sensative to visuals!. Verbal abilities are probably best left untouched, would you not agree!? So, with that in mind, how could we possibly believe that an emotion as strong as 'love' is something that men and women are capable of defining and/or experiencing towards one another!? I do believe that it is possible for a Mother to truly love her son just as she would a daughter and a Father to love his daughter just as he would a son, for there is nothing more profoundly unique and amazing than the love a parent (a Mother especially) has for his/her child!.
However, when you ask about the type of 'true love' that you refer to in your question, the answer is simple!. True love between a man and a woman cannot and does not exists!. Please, do not think this is coming from an angry, bitter, man hating ol' broad!. It is simply coming from a woman who has studied the cognitive processes of the brain and has remained in a 'seemingly happy' marriage for over 15 years and has been grateful to have had the opportunity to experience Motherhood as a result of that marriage!. You see my friend, what you describe in your question with words such as "tummy feel funny inside"; "light headed when the two of you kiss", etc!. you are offering a rather simple but accurate defintion of "lust"!. Those feelings are all sparked within your brain initially because you are with someone who is unfamiliar to you and your brain is releasing chemicals that make you feel that way!. Over time, and with more familarity with the person, those chemicals will no longer be released and your feelings for lust will leave you!. This is when you decide if there is no fondation on which to build a sold 'partnership' and leave the relationship, or you come to the conclusion that the 'lust' has been replaced with emotions like security, commitment, self-worth, respect, admiration, etc!. Some may argue that these are all emotions/feelings that one has when one is in love!. I tend to believe that they are feelings that one has in any type of relationship they feel is of value in their life and that it is these traits that lead us to believe we are in "love" with a person, when in reality, we are grateful to have established a friendship, partnership, etc!. and that is as far as it goes!. Again, I offer this from a scientific and technical point of view, not from the stance of a bitter and scorned ***** as many will think!.
As always, I am open and eager to be proven wrong and I know you enjoy doing so; therefore, I encourage you or any of the respondants to your question to challange my answer if they feel it necessary and/or appropriate (please, no personal attacks)!. It is the intense bond that is developed, nurtured and challanged but remains intact throughout a lifetime and that is the love that is experienced between a parent and a child!. There is no such thing!. Well, there is but not with a man!. True love is the feeling you get when you first hold your newborn baby!. No man could ever make me feel that way!. I went through a lot of heart breaks because I assumed the butterflies and a light headed kiss meant true love!. It doesn't!. Feelings fade!. Especially butterflies and excitement!. I am with my husband because we know each other better than anyone else, I can look my worst and he still thinks I am beautiful, he gave me two beautiful kids, takes care of us, and I am comfortable enough I could spend the rest of my life married to him and never need or want for anything else!. Wow! Where do I begin!. It's been over a year now, and i still get butterflies in my stomach when he is near!. When we kiss, i sometimes forget to breathe, like he literally takes my breath away!. He's honest and helps me with anything and I help him!. We're here for each other through thick and thin!. We're a team!. He wants me!. He's constantly touching me in some way (not trying to be sexual here)!. He's patient, understanding and not controlling!. He compliments me all the time!. When we finally sit down in the evenings to relax together, he touches my face and gazes into my eyes, plays with my hair, holds my hand, we laugh and cry together!. He lets me sleep in on the weekends and likes it when I fall asleep on his chest!. When he kisses my neck, I get goosebumps!. We work in the same building together, but for different companies and have different hours!. We can joke around and be 'mean' to each other, teasing!. And we know when it's time to be serious!. Neither one of us are the jealous type!. He's awesome to my daughter and I love his three girls too!. I love him with all my heart and soul and he does me too!. Hey! Maybe someday we'll get married!. the only thing i can add to the link of a question and answer i posted referring this question is that you feel like you are soaring through the atmosphere, awake, asleep, 24/7, you feel electricity everytime you touch that person, be it verbal, written or just seeing them, you feel totally lost without them and each day that passes without contact leaves you feeling that a big piece is missing from your soul! you walk around with a smile, you cry big tears, you feel the heat and the energy from them creep into your soul and climb up your spine!. and you never want that feeling to end! cloud nine, is being in love!?
