Stem cell transplant patients are chimeras!. http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Chimera_(ge!.!.!.

All transplant patients are, actually, but with stem cell transplants its a lil interesting!. Since the transplant is replacing the patients marrow, with donor marrow!.!. and because the marrow is what produces the blood!.!.!.!. A transplant patient's blood is the blood of the donor!. For example, I have been through this transplant!. My blood is not my own, it is the blood of my donor!. If you test my blood, it will be the same type and dna as my donor!. My blood type changed as well!. Before the transplant I was o+, now I am a+!. This happened because my donor was a+, and my blood is now their blood!.

This has been featured on several crime shows such as SVU and CSI!. The bad guy left blood evidence at the scene!. When the cops did a cheek swab, the sample of course didnt match!. The check swab gave the dna of the suspect!. Even though the blood at the scene belonged to the suspect, since he had had a stem cell transplant, the dna was the dna of his donor, Not his!. The suspect almost gets away until they figure it out!. Most people think that is just tv, but it is a real life circumstanceWww@Enter-QA@Com
