Yes, they do!. On the "Dog Whisperer" he rehabbed a poor scarred black lab mix from the Hurrican Katrina event!. Finally, after like a YEAR, they found his owners and drove from Los Angeles to Georgia and that dog KNEW his people!. He was SO excited and happy, it brought tears to my eyes!. It was SO awesome to see that reunion!. (tears now, even!) Roscoe can run away and end up at my house anytime!. I want a german shepherd!. But my dog wouldn't run away, he'd be well trained and love us too much to want to go anywere!. See, If I take him on walks everyday, that satisfiied his instict to roam and then we will do training and obedience and then love and affection and playing!. As the " Dog Whisperer" puts it, Excersize, then training, THEN love and affection!. If you think about it, Excersize takes maybe up to an hour, then training 15 minutes or more, so you have 22 hours and 45 minutes for love and affection!. I think I can give up an hour or two a day for love and affection and "just being friends" for the rest of the day for the good of my buddy, my dog!. Oh, I can't wait to have a nice big dog that I can just put my arms around his neck and hug him and get lots of gross puppy kisses!. Isn't it cute when you are sitting down and they come and put their head on your knee or leg and look up at you with those gorgeous puppy-dog eyes!? Oh, I melt just thinking about it!. I can't wait to have my dog do that!. PLUS, I have been taking rides into the mountains lately to take photographs of fall color and felt insecure without a dog or a gun!. I don't have my permit to carry yet, but would really rather have a nice big german shepherd by my side!. Doesn't that sound WONDERFUL!?Www@Enter-QA@Com
I would bet yes!. I went on vacation for a week and put my Golden Retriever at a doggy camp, and when I picked her up she saw me from a distance and made a beeline for me!.
also, I remember watching the local news one night and they showed soldiers returning from a year in Iraq!. This guy was walking and all of a sudden this dog comes out of nowhere and jumps on him, tail wagging furiously!. It was his dog that his sister had been taking care of for the year!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

my dog (a brown labrador) had ran away (year 2000) and came back a week later, he had a hole in his hind leg that almost looked carved in the bone and when we tried to comfort him he got scared and didnt trust us anymore, he was 3 when this happened!. (and he was dognapped a year later, *i hope he's resting in peace*)Www@Enter-QA@Com

The dog still showed signs of love and recognition!.!.!.they are very loving creatures with good memory!. We had to leave our dog with my Uncle when we moved to Virginia!. When I went for a visit that summer, that dog jumped all over me and licked the stuffings outta me!. Can I just say!.!.!.he came "home" with me and lived here till he passed of old age!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
