I don′t want to be holier-than-thou, but I think we all realize that not all participants in this Answers opportunity are native speakers!. Some people have,either because of their age or location, not had the opportunity to learn English properly!. Some people may even be mentally handicapped!. In spite of these limitations, they want or need information or simply to be in contact with the world outside or to practice their English!. If I am at all able to figure out what it is they are trying to find out, I try to answer their question without making fun of them!. My guess was "Alli" must be the name of a product the asker is considering purchasing, so I typed it into my search mode and, "Guess what!? Surprise!" It turns out to be a weight loss method!. It could have been a mispelling, of course, but I think I have figured out the "Alli" mystery correctly!. Furthermore I will allow myself to chastise those who would laugh at someone who happened to have "Alli" as their first name!. Most of us had our names chosen for us by our parents!. In any case, a slightly different version, "Ali" is a common name and should be respected in the same way as any other common name!. For that matter, although unusual names may make us laugh, it is also not automatically a reason to tease someone or give someone a hard time!.
