I got an assignment in history class to read this story and answers questions on it!. The story was about the two countries becoming one!. But we weren't a joint name, and they wasn't a flag that represented both our countries it was all American!. Their president was speaking, while lowering our flag and putting up theirs!. Our flag was to be stored in the Washington museum!. They sang the Canadian national anthem for the last time then sang the American one!. also Quebec was their own Republic!. personally, i would strongly dislike that!! and i know a lot of people that would agree!. There seems to be such tension, competetion and conflict between the US and canada and i think it would lead to conflict!. i also believe it would be bad for our economy!. it would be unfortunate because canada is a very different and seperate country from the states!. canada is proud of many things and sharing that pride with the states just wouldnt happen! plus no offense americans but canada doesnt want to be included in things like, being such high air polluters!!! yikkes, no thanks =)Www@Enter-QA@Com
its sad when any country loses is national identity!. i'm living in ireland and we've already lost our national currency to a european one and while that did come with advantages, i think all countries in europe are in a dangerous place with regards to their national differences!.
i also lived in canada when i was younger and although canada and america are neighbors, they are still very different and it would be unfortunate if they were to merge for the sole reason that they are both to large and different to share common feelings on important matters!.

I WOULD BAWL MY EYES OUT!. I'M CANADIAN AND WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNITED STATES!. WE'RE PEACEFUL & I LOVE MY COUNTRY!. I WOULD FREAK OUT IF WE HAD TO JOIN!. THE US IS HATED BY ALMOST EVERYONE (FOR GOOD REASONS!) & I DON'T WANT TO BE APART OF THAT!.

I'd be a little sad that both countries would lose their identity and individuality!. And in the future it would be unlikely that their seperate histories would be taught, like places in Europe where the textbooks and teachers just say "When germany wasn't germany, suchathing happened!."

It's also a bit rubbish that rather than 'the US and Canada' it'd be like Canada was an extra state to many people!.
Although as a british person, I wouldn't have much of an opinion, except that I couldn't really see the point of it =)
