One day a monkey was walking a long path across the plains of central Africa!. He stopped at a banana tree near a brook for a snack and a drink of water!.He then climbed the tree and lay down in the top branches for a nap!. and he dreamed a dream of having a gun to fight off the dangerous preditors of the plains and a fast car to get from one place to the next, and airconditioning, vitamins, striped toothpast, and surgarfree gum!.While he slept and dreamed he was biten by a fly that had African Sleeping Sickness!.
That afternoon A star exploded in the northern sky and warped the very fabric of space time, freezing the monkey in the tree in a permanant state of dream!. in this catastrophy part of the universal conscious merged with the monkey brain and began to observe reality as the dream of the monkey!.
The universe has been trapped in the mind of the monkey sleeping in the banana tree every since that fateful day!. And long forgotten the purpose in life was to find a way to wake the monkey

I have seen this before, It is a philosophical argument but, I can't remember who or where I heard it from!. It was NOT supposed to be a humorous story for it asks "Are we the monkey!? Are we the universe!? Are we the dream!? or, Are we the means to awaken the monkey!?" The outcome is dependent upon which of these questions is answered in the affirmative!. This has a number of Philosophers stumped and has had then so for quite a while now and I believe that it IS a very important question to have answered!.
