Question: Poll anyone feel that the US has lost touch with having people who don't speak english on tech support lines!?

Most service calls are redirected to India, where people actually take classes to learn accents for different English speaking regions!.

Plus when a telemarketer calls you to sell you something, be careful!. A large portion are inmates in prisons!. It's a way for them to earn money in prison without having to leave the facility!. Be careful giving your information to 'cold call' telemarketers!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I really think it's unfair to rip on someone just because they speak english as a second language but I do get really frustrated when I'm trying to get something done and I'm having to slow way, way down to both understand and be understood by the person on the other end of the line!.!.!.!.!.!.the businesses that think it's ok to treat their customers and employees like that are the greedy ******* at fault in this situation, not the guy in India who's tring to help me sort it all out and is probably just as frustrated as I am! not so sure about the "lost touch" angle but I can tell you it sends me nuts trying to explain to some one a fairly involved problem and you just know they have little to NO clue what you are saying!. Actually had some one tell me they could NOT understand me after a long time of trying to sort a medical issue out, when I said I can not see why when I am the one speaking english!. You are right there are some that can converse with ease but to be honest there are fair more that can NOT than can !!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Before I got this job, I worked in a call center for AT&T doing tech support for their Internet service!.

People would thank me because I was a native speaker!. The center I worked in dealt with the southeastern US!. Can you image millions of angry, southern rednecks calling tech support only to get Apu in India!? Yeah, not a good time!. At least 95% of calls that went there weren't resolved or people would get frustrated, hang up, and try again, hoping to get someone who spoke English!.

I would tell them, as I'm telling you, you have the right to request an American agent!.

And it would be really funny reading their notes because at the bottom, we were supposed to put our name and call center at the end!.

I get aggravated when I call tech support for an American company and I get someone I can't understand and they can't understand me!. It's not just the US!. I'm sure anyone would like to get tech support from people who speak their language fluidly!. I speak French but not good enough to give tech support to a Frenchman!. He would expect someone that could correctly speak French!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't even think in English but dammit, if I can speak it then so should the tech support morons!. It irks me!. Not sure you know this, but often times when you call into speak to someone regarding your online or catalog order you're talking to an inmate!. No kidding!. I would say, get in touch with English if you are using American tech support, spanish in Mexico; France, french!.!.!.!.!. You wouldn't catch me going to a country and trying to function there without a way to communicate, it just doesn't make sense!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

went to a pharmacy the other night, won't mention nationality of the people working with the meds but they made 2 errors in the 10 min!. I was there!.!. Errors involved reading, names and kind of pills prescribed!.!. that's just wrong !!! I am not a pharmacist but could do a better safer job!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I love repeating everything 4X and speaking extremely slow to "Tarbash" in India when I have a problem with an unknown charge to my Home Depot card!. If you took one of my calls, you'd quite too!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

YES - it is so annoying to try to resolve computer hardware issues when the individual at the other end of the line has such a thick accent!. ?Www@Enter-QA@Com

It wouldn't be so much of a problem if the techs were actually in the US!.!.!.!.but, thanks to outsourcing, most of those calls get connected to support overseas!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was truly an exercise in futility!!!
