Cats are lower maintenance!. I like both though!.
We had a German Shepherd and a cat, both got along very well together!. The dog passed away a few years ago and the cat seemed to wander around meowing and looking for him for several months after wards!.
As far as Mandee's answer, we have several possums who visit regularly and eat!. The cats accept them and they coexist with each other!. No conflicts!.
