When giving a massage, do you use baby oil or lotion?!

Question: When giving a massage, do you use baby oil or lotion!?
My husband pulled a muscle in his lower back being "manly" and moving a dresser that out weighed him by about 90lbs!.

I told him I'd give him a massage, but I've never really given him a "general" massage - if that makes sense =]

We have this lavender / vanilla baby oil that I was going to use since the scent helps him relax and he'll fall right to sleep!. We also have a lavender / vanilla lotion - which would work better!?

also: do you start at the feet or the head!?

TY!

Answers:
first of all, your hands will get really tired FAST if you're not used to giving a regular massage, so ignore the feet, head area since you said he hurt his back!. Just go straight for the injured area!. Second of all, normally, lotion is my favorite but with a pulled muscle, you really don't want to work the area too hard because it can cause more pain and damage than you intended!. Using the oil will help your hands slide over his back better, help you knead the muscles without it becoming a deep tissue massage, and helps keep your hands moving without tiring you out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

baby oil, it lasts longer,
when i had no baby oil i used lotion and it wasnt as slippery and it dried every few minutes, baby oil you can get into the muscles more
start with his back, and get the back of his arms too, press down on his lower back, then slide your hands around his love handles to his lower back, up and down, then the backs of his legs and his knees, all the joints tooWww@Enter-QA@Com

Always start at the face with no oil lotion or any product!. Baby oil would be a horrible choice, but lotion absorbs really quickly and causes alot of drag meaning you have to work harder!. If you can find a cream or I like to you either coconut, almond, jojoba, or grapeseed oil!.!.!. but definately not baby oil!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

im a massage therapist in training, you always start at the head, never use baby oil because it will clog pores!. lavender lotion is fine, dont use it on his face, because the face is filled with natural oilsWww@Enter-QA@Com

Baby oil, its more relaxing to the person who is getting the massage, it soaks up into his/her skin which is good for there skin, but lotion will work too, if he wants tht scent!.

Just ask him!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

if you use that lavender/vanilla lotion and start at his feet I can guarantee he won't get half way to his head and it won't be regular any more!. Then he can sleep!. Getter done!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

For muscle pain I use Tiger balm, Flex All 454, or Icy Hot!.
