Performing Rights Licence - radio??!

Question:

Performing Rights Licence - radio??

we had a letter saying that we need a licence to play the radio in our shop - as its a public place.

anybody know how much this licence costs? just curious - thank you for any answers.

Answers:

You need a license because the royalty companies are going to charge you a fee for every song you play. The reason they are doing so is because you have speakers throughout your store and are broadcasting overhead. In order to stop this, you need to disconnect the speakers and just play radios plugged into the wall throughout your store. Tell them in a letter they are welcome to come back to check but you now have only a radio plugged into the wall playing. Good luck.
