Why do songs always sound better on the radio?!

Question:

Why do songs always sound better on the radio?

songs on the radio always have like this extra flare to them but then when you buy them on CD they sound slightly different. have you ever had that problem? you buy the CD and then your like "why did i spend 20$ on this?" but then you hear it on the radio and your like "i love this song". maybe its b/c i have a cheep sound system.

Answers:

Two reasons.
1. artists release what is called a "radio edit" it is edited specifically for radio airplay. the reason they do this is for a few different reasons. one is for time purposses some stations wont play a song over x amount of minutes. another reason is because of lyrics.
2. compression. they compress the sound of the song as they said in the above answer to make it sound better.
You think the song heard on the radio is better because the radio station play's it over and over and when you hear it from the cd it actually isnt the same as the song you heard on the radio.
Sometimes artists or labels do release the radio edits to the public. contact the label to find out how to buy it.
