what should I expect? what kind of things should I look out for or make sure I excell in and such?

Speaking from someone who has been in a class EXACTLY like your speaking of, and the former supervisor of 660 AM in Miami, Florida, i can share some of my knowledge. 1ST - you will have to know what "MICROPHONE PRESENSE" is. When you ON AIR or the mic is on, only say what your supposed to say and nothing more. don't breathe heavily. keep about 3 inches from the mic. speak firmly. and if at all possible, DONT sneeze or cough. sick days are BAD. This is one thing you should expect. training on MICROPHONE PRESENSE.
2ND - You will need to have or learn to adapt with other people and NOT BE GREEDY. DO NOT be greedy about you ON AIR time. that is important! only take what you are given. even the world's best dj's can get released/fired because of their greediness. teamwork is important.
