I found this on Wikipedia: "On May 17th 2007, CBS Broadcasting shut down 106.9 FreeFM and transferred it back to an "oldies" format. They also announced the move of their current format to 1550AM San Francisco. The plan is to move the talk shows that aired on 106.9 that includes Adam Corolla, opie and anthony, and Tom Leykis to this station."

I haven't found out any real reason why though. I thought this station was booming?

Answers:

Well, this old radio station, KFRC, used to be at 99.7 FM, which now airs a dance format. KFRC was a classic hits station at 99.7 FM for many years until October 2006, when they flipped to dance music. So, many listeners complained to CBS Radio San Francisco, and they gave in and decided to flip the format on Free FM because they were in last place in ratings (literally), and 106.9 had an 80,000 watt signal, so CBS found it appropriate to put classic hits on 106.9 FM.

But soon, they will eventually bring Adam Carolla, Opie and Anthony, and Tom Leykis over to AM 1550 KYCY, another CBS owned station.
