Internet Radio Broadcasting?!

Question:

Internet Radio Broadcasting?

Is it worth setting an internet radio broadcast? Will there always be someone listening or its possible no one will listen to the station at all. I would be going with shoutcast , doing some voice overs. shout outs, throwing some questions and having listeners send me answers to make it interactive and such.......It would cost 11$ through a shoutcast server

Answers:

I have had a station since july. www.baguaradio.com .

I am really the only listener as of now. I find it very fun to do. It is some work but its worth it. I spend about 28 dollars on my station.

The shoutcast server is only 6.80 for 15 slots at 64k mono. Not a huge problem.

The rest of it comes in the form of licensing to be legal. If your station is caught it can cost upto 100,000 per song. Is it worth it for that? I don't think so.

Check out live365.com or loudcity.net. Personally I use loudcity.

Also check out savenetradio.org to keep up with the soundexchange royalty rates increase whcih will pretty much kill all legal radio (including yahoo's service)

However there is legislation in both houses of congress working to save internet radio. Both bills have major support.

Yes I do think an internet radio station is worth it. But do it legally. Sure it costs just a little more, but you will also find more support and more ideas.
