Should I be a model?!

Question:

Should I be a model?

I've been told about a million times I have the looks of a radio DJ...(I know I am quite attractive, but I think that I might give it a go!!!) *holds breath and goes for plunge!!!!
I figure if I'm that good-looking I could probably get a job modeling. Is it a good career? How do I get into it from this, I guess we are all in the media buisness right?

wish me luck!! I'm going in!!!!.....

Answers: I always thought when people said someone had the looks of a radio DJ it meant they are NOT very attractive? which is why thy could work on radio.. where they can't be seen? maybe i was wrong i dunno.

yea if u feel u can be a model go for it good luck to ya gurl!!! Can I be your manager??? I've always wanted to work with hot models and make money at the same time. I'll get you all kinds of shows. Good luck!
Not many people ever make the "big time" in modeling, but
some few do and become wealthy. It can also be a demanding job, with a lot of undercurrents. Many would not be happy in such a job.

I advise you, though, to be VERY careful about how you start out. There are people out there who want to sell you modeling school, photos, and a range of other services.

They sometimes promise you the world, but often just take your money and leave you in trouble.

Some of them occasionally entice you to become a model, while they really may want you for other purposes. (Such as escort services, prostitution, etc.)

Now is a time to really be careful. good luck..... Please don't take this the wrong way... When people say you have a face for radio, it usually means that you are not so attractive. I'm sure this is not true in your case.

Perhaps I can give you some info on both radio, and modeling. I have been working in radio since 1993. I also worked for a few years as a screen-test editor for a modeling agency for a few years.

First, let me tell you what to avoid. There are a lot of fly-by-night modeling agencies out there. Unless an agency does not have an actual office in a town or bigger city around you, don't waste your time with them. You might see ads in your local paper for casting sessions every once and a while at a hotel, or motel conference room...... Those are agencies that will take a picture of you, then ask for money, then leave town never to be heard from again. Just avoid them!

By law, a modeling agency is never allowed to ask you to pay money up-front to list with them. They can only collect money from you after they locate a gig for you. Even then they only will take 10 to 15 percent of of all money you make at that gig. This fee is just an industry standard usually does not amount to much.

Also, never agree to do any photo-shoot where you are not allowed to bring at least one person along with you to the site. Never go to anything where they want you to be alone... This is a major red flag that something is not on the up and up. Always use your best judgement when it comes to accepting gigs from your agent. You should always sit down with your agent and set a series of limits that you will accept a job for. Ex. If you are not comfortable posing in a bathingsuit, let your agent know not to book you on any of those shoots.

Now, on to Radio. You do not have to be attractive to be on the radio...... But being good looking never hurts your chances of landing a job!
You are judged on your performance in radio, not on your looks. I dont know how old you are but if you really want to work in radio, a college degree in Communications Radio/TV would be the best place to start. There you will be able to hone your skills at the colleges radio station so you will be experienced in all aspects of radio once you start looking to locate a job in the media.

I just realized that this answer is kind of long! If you have any more specific questions about radio, or modeling you can always email me at jam961@yahoo.com and I will try to point you in the right direction, or answer any questions you may have.

I wish you much luck in whatever path you choose in life. Take care! No. Who do you think you are? Your ego is way more inflated than it should be. The looks of a radio DJ means that you are ugly, you belong on the radio and not on tv where people can see you. Don't get so full of yourself. Not in this section. This is radio.
