Am I wasting my time?!

Question: I am an independent recording artist....have sent copies of my CDs to XM and Sirius. Nobody has ever told me they heard me there. I have never heard myself on there. Am I wasting my time? On the Web, they give an address to send them stuff, but I don't know if they use it.
What do you think?

try sending it out to local radio stations too, and college radio stations.. why keep to such a small demographic?

also, try networking with people.. if they get to know you before you hand them the cd, they'll be much more likely to listen to it
No most people have more failures them success's to begin with.
Have you tried myspace music or another site like that to get your music out there?
go there to see or play in your local shops for free this can help you , to get started .. and get feedback as well
I think you just have to keep trying and get out to more places. I wish you the best. Hey, we have the same name going on! :)
Just because you sent a CD to some faceless company doesnt mean there going to put you directly on air. A) they cant play anything w/o a contract and b)do you have any clue how many CDs from local/indy artists are sent in to stations in a week? Im sure yours landed in a box and is still sitting there for giveaways for the cleaning staff . . .

Try setting up a press kit, actually talking to someone, and getting someone out to your show. You arent going to go straight to satellite w/o a little more effort. . . . Make yourstuff stand out.
Waste baskets at all radio stations, including satellite, are filled with CDs from independent artists. Most are not even given a listen, as unfair as it is. Consultants and distant programmers wouldn't allow the airplay anyway if it's not major label.

You're better off creating a buzz about your music on MySpace or Facebook, getting reviews on gigs to post and then email some links to all of it. You may be wasting money on postage.

Sad but true.
myspace would be a good idea....
