Why would i need to get a ground plane kit for a CB radio antenna?!

Question: do you want it to be protected from lightning strikes? if so get the ground wire.. if it is on your car.. it is already grounded.. on the house, with out the ground.. it is a lightning rod..

if where you are mounting it does not have a solid connection to ground you need this kit.

Basically the antenna you put in the air is one half of the antenna, it's connection to ground is the other half. When there are problems with obtaining ground, the kit acts like a ground to complete the antenna. Some get the kit no matter what so they don't have to worry about trying to repair a problem with ground at say 60 feet in the air.
