What happened to power 104.1 in hartford ct?!

Question: Thank god they finally switched back.. For those complaining that they did it without notice: they did the same when they switched to Power 104.. I got out from class one day and thought they were jokinging around.

I read they flipped formats. The old one wasn't making money.

That is too bad...i guess i will start listening to 93.7 now...you can listen to Wendy on WLBS website, thank god....

What should have happened years ago. It went back to the original alternative rock format that kicked *** in this state for years. I couldn't be happier, rap will soon die thank god.

I absolutely sympathize with the folks who really loved Power104.... In 2003, we modern rock fans had the very same ugly rug pulled right out from under us.... The Clear Channel Death Star needs to think harder about how it treats its listeners. I was personally psyched when I heard that "104" came back, but then I thought about the people who are just totally RIPPED about the change. It was handled badly then, and it's being handled badly now.

Alienating WHOLE audiences cannot be the best way to engender interest among your potential listeners!

In only a very, very small nod this method of format switching, I can understand that the calls would have swamped Power104 in the days leading up to the switch, and would have taken away the focus of the programming, and really stressed out the staff, who seem like cool people. But surely there is some better avenue for change?!

Ok, now the new 104 is playing Down by 311.... Ok, that's great. HOWEVER, Clear Channel pulled this on us before; they started waaay back with a very diverse play list, and then slippery-sloped into the same 12 dumb songs, which drove away the listeners, and rendered the format obsolete. Possibly it was gently planned, so they could justify switching formats.... Hmmmm. Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.

Now that Alt/Modern Rock has brought its wash-and-go self back to the HeartBeat, it MUST be more diverse this time. I'm talking deeper stuff, music that influenced lots of the better music of today. How about playing A Tribe Called Quest, for example? If you don't know who they are, you are missing out; go Google them. I love rap, rap/rock, modern and alternative rock, and there are deep roots and connections that many people are just unaware of. To succeed this time, there HAS TO BE more variety!!! "Legend" is not Bob Marley's only album! For example, playing only "Fight for your right" by the Beastie Boys does not qualify as a nod to history! Instead, playing "Shake Your Rump" "Egg Man" "3-Minute Rule" "Car Thief" "What Comes Around" or "Shadrach" is what I'm talking about. The landmark sampling case involving the Beastie Boys, Newton v. Diamond, was fought for all music, not just rap and hip/hop. Music really is all connected, even super-subtly. So ch-check it out yourself, and please don't hesitate to request more and more good music for the new 104.

Please Lord; just don't let it turn into an Emo, Frat-Rap, and 12-Song-Playing boring corporate nightmare again....

Anyway, I hope lessons are learned here: Clear Channel needs to be more careful this time. Maybe they could put on some blow-out finale show or event for Power104? Love it or hate it, Power104 was often entertaining. I'll miss it.

In the end, radio is free for us, so we don't have the say we'd like. And that's ok. Really. Now let's all go on and have a nice weekend.

this is why i am glad i listen to sirius satellite radio. clear channel suck

I don't know, but i hate it. I like 1041 better than 937, damn!!!

Yeah... they flipped it allll back! I feel bad not only for us who got comfortable with Power but those who had to suffer the flip from rock to rap, hip-hop, etc.

My mom is going to miss Steve Harvey so much! And so am I! T.T

I think one of the lamest part of this change is that it sounds like the station is now being run by a computer and a playlist--like any of the dime-a-dozen net radio streams. I mean, they could be running that station with an ipod on auto-pilot. Removing the human element in this way is insulting, inherently anti-dynamic, and clearly a financial move. I don't mind listening to someone's streaming/broadcasting ipod, but I do mind having ads mixed in with that content. I'll listen to my own mp3 player with no ads, thank you.

what happened to power 104.1?? 1st they take away Starr&Buc-Wild, then once you got used to harvey's crew it wasn't all too bad, and wendy williams!!! how're U doin'??!
I'm not surprised that clear channel dumped all the negroidian antics and went back to the safe music and non-controversial d.j.s, long sets of whinny/crying rock ballads...
yeeeesh!!! I'll never listen again, thanks clear channel!!! :(

the ratings were not as good as 93.7 but they but they better than some rock stations and the audience was growing bad move worse music i predict a format change again in 6-9 months like jack FM in NY this change is one for the worst not better.

It's about time they went back to the old 104.1! They did the same thing to us a few years back. one day it was there, the next it was gone! I hope they keep playing all the old 90's alternative music. We need a station like this in CT. I know so many people who are glad it;s back!

I was psyched to hear it's back to alternative! It was rough not having an alternative station around here. I mean how many rap and r&b stations does a state need?

Now if we just get back Dee Snider's morning show... all will be well again. j/k
