Just put "build radio" (without the quotes) in your favorite search engine. Lots of methods will come up. Or, as the otther answerer says, there's kits around (Radio Shack and other stores sell them and they are available online).

You can buy hobby kits at places like Radio Shack to let you build a basic radio.
Duh and the other people are correct but would take a few more circuits than that simple IC . They can be made from razor blades and a few other simple devices (to receive MW or AM(standard) broadcast band)
A "crystal radio" is hundred year old technology but it still works today:
