I don't know the details but two radios do it.

You need a receiver and a sender. The repeater collects the sin gal and retransmits it. Here is a link.

Depends on what radio signal...

The repeater post was good for repeating transmissions of say a business radio.

But you are probably wanting a broadcast translator to extend the range of radio station.

Basically it's a receiver that is installed either at the site or the info is brought in by phone line/internet line and is fed into the input of a transmitter which rebroadcasts it.

Searching the web should bring up many solid state transmitters and antennas for broadcasting as I don't know the range, power you are looking for.

However , even third world countries have radio regulations and they will have to be followed..meaning usually a trip to the federal capital for a broadcast license

well, first of all it totally depends on the country as to whether you need any approval for this. if you're far away from a major city - then the odds are no one will care. the biggest issue you will have is making sure you have stable power, and that the equipment is placed in a secure location. having said that, you have a few options. 1. you could look into improving the signal already there - by increasing xmitter output - or getting the antenna up higher. 2. translator - usually will tune in to the main signal and then repeat the content on another frequency very close to the original.

there are several reputable companies that provide this kind of equipment. if you own the main signal - then i would ask - what system are you using and where did you buy it? the place where you got it probably has other equipment. otherwise - i recommend that you go to this website: http://www.rwonline.com/ This is the place for all the chief engineers of "western" radio stations. they have a classified section for used equipment. you can also send a letter to the editor - and put a classified ad in the back for what you want.
