Can you have xm radio and a deck?!

Question: I bought my boyfriend a REALLY nice deck for his car last year for xmas, and this year i'm looking into satellite radio possibly. But I don't know anything about it, like if I buy him the satellite radio will it make the deck useless? what good is a deck to play cds if you have a satellite radio?

I know XM has this, probably Sirius too. You can get a portable satellite receiver that will transfer the audio into the deck either by way of a cassette, MP3 input or low-power FM transceiver. The best part is he can take it back and forth between the house, office and car. He'll just need separate docking stations.

You best bet is to check with the people who installed the deck, they probably also can either sell you the complete unit or tell you what exactly to buy that will be compatible with his current setup.

If he installed it himself, why not buy him a gift card to Best Buy or Circuit City (or the satellite service itself) with a note that says, "Go get a satellite radio with this." I'm sure if he knew how to install the deck last year, he'll know what to do with the gift card. Happy Holidays!

With the deck you can play the music you want anytime you want. It's the same as comparing regular radio with a deck. Just because you can listen to music on the radio doesn't make your CD player useless. With satellite radio, it just means you have a lot more choices of what to listen to is all.
