Radio signal in office?!
Question: I know that with FM antennas how you can get more signal, does the same thing apply with a satellite radio antenna, or do I need to place the sat. receiver in a better spot? It seems when I move the receiver the signal comes in, but when I move the antenna, most of the time nothing happens. From time to time it's coming in, then drifts back out, so I am getting some signal.
I don't know if wrapping the antenna cord around metal matters or not, it doesn't seem to.

Try Online Radio, it works perfectly.
you need access to a window with a view to the south/southwest for your sat radio antenna. without that, you're basically out of luck.
The signal depends on the placement of your antenna only, not the receiver. If you are not in a large metropolitan area with a ground repeater, you may have a hard time picking up a signal. Your only hope is putting the antenna in a window. If you have XM, you want the antenna pointing south. If you have Sirius, you want the antenna pointed toward Minnesota for best results.
Derek's pretty close. Study the directions you got with your radio, or go to www.XMradio.com and they have an entire section devoted to this subject in installation/tech support. It comes complete witha map so you can determine what's the best application for your circumstance.

i had a problem with a buzzing nose. turns out, my speakers were not plugged in all the way. and now my speaker line in is getting old and sometimes i have to twist the cord to get it to come in loud and clear. get your antenna near a window and maybe that'll help. maybe check out tss-radio.com and see if they have an antenna boost of some sort :D
