What radio stations do you listen to, and why?!

Question: I listen to R1, R2, R4, and Smooth Radio (North West) but for different reasons and at different times!

Answers: I listen to R1, R2, R4, and Smooth Radio (North West) but for different reasons and at different times!

Sorry, but Radio 1 is tailored to people who have difficulty remembering their own names, and find the Sun newspaper an intellectual challenge. In 1967 it was the (government funded) challenge to the pirate stations, but the novelty wore off about 30 years ago.

XFM,like the music

Smooth Radio (North West) used to be Jazz FM, I now listen to "Just Jazz" on Dab Radio

A local, non-commercial college station. Good music, wide variety of musical styles, no corporate-dictated playlist... and NO friggin' commercials!

I listen to Spirit FM 90.5 out of Blacksburg, VA because it play wonderful Contemporary Christian music.

Smooth Radio (East Midlands) as they play a good selection of tunes from the 60's to date

Radio 1 - Chris Moyles is funny
Dick and dom and vernon kay
radio 2 - ken Bruce - better (sometimes)than Joe Whiley
Local Radio - weather and travel

R2 mainly, like the music and most of the dj's. Occasionally century or tfm (n.e.england) but it's a commercial station and that gets on my wick!

Century Fm is ok - some good songs and as the advert says, songs to sing along to - i think its a manchester station so if, as your name suggests you are in manchester or at least the northwest, you should be able to get it - its on 105.4fm x

Here in the US of A, I listen to XM Comedy and CNBC (the audio portion of a financial TV network). When the stock market news get bad, I can always get a laugh at XM150.

Terrestrially, it's softer classic rock (if I can find it) and news.

I love doing spending the day gardening and listening to the radio. I love just listening to the radio, but can't do it at the same time as having to concentrate on something else. My favourite stations differ according to the day / time. Weekday morning, the R5 phone in, Weekday afternoon, Steve Wright and Chris Evans on R2 (but haven't listened for a few weeks - are they still on?). Saturday, sport and R2 sometime has some good recordings of gigs. Sunday morning. R2, Steve Wright's unday Morning love songs, the Desert Island discs, which has some amazing people on. I have just got a digital radio and like Core, Life and for a bit of escapism, Radio 7 and Oneword for their stories. I much prefer radio to telly - excellent relaxation and also listening to R5 and R4 whilst doing other things helps me keep up with the world without having to spend time reading newspapers or watching T.V..

BBC Radio 4 for news, discussions and drama; Radio 5 at night when 4 is off the air - their through the night programme is a fairly interesting miscellany of news items, interviews and advice hours. BBC Radio 7 for repeats of old radio plays and drama series. I listen to speech radio only as I have no interest in music.

The stations I listen to are usually ones programming the music I like such as country, hard and/or classic rock, softer rock, or pop

I actually go out of my way however to find what some would call backwater radio stations or mom and pop station in the states .. these are stations that due to lack of funds , usually run more local programming and usually has a wider variety of music compared to more for profit radio stations

I like to the local mexican/latino radio station, as well as the oldies station (50s through 80s, but only the good 80s, no screaming heavy metal ).

i love jeremy vine on bbc radio 2, some of the discussions are really interesting. steve wrights sunday love songs are pretty good too...soppy but nice to wake up to on a dreary rainy day.
galaxy and century fm are good too.

radio humberside, i love the gardening show on a sunday morning, the local news and weather and i love blair jacobs
