Question: It began with the "Gonna take me alot to drag me away from you" bit and it had some rap style parts in it.
It isn't the Jojo - Anything one, I tried that..I don't really know if it's the Howie Day version because the ones on YouTube are users singing it and I can't really tell.

Is it possible you heard "Song for Africa" It has some rap elements and is a charitable effort by a bunch of artists for relief in Africa. But I don't think it sounds like the Toto song.
Othewise, I'd guess you heard a "cover" version perhaps from a local artist. Let us kow the station and city and maybe we can track it down. Or you can call or email the station yourself. Use a search engine - they're great!
