Question: Relative living in a condo, not sure which way windows face.... wants satellite radio to hook up to home speakers. Which one gives most options? and what equipment is needed? she does not care about portability or car use.

First piece of equipment needed is a compass ;<)
Either that or type in the street address followed by a comma and the ZIP code in Google. That will bring up a map and should give you an idea of which way the windows face (and the importance of this will become apparent).
Next check the websites of both services in their installation or technical sections for the location of the satellites and what they recommend for your relative's area. From this you should be able to select one. They will probably be similar, unless located in an odd part of the country (like Key West, Bainbridge Island or Bar Harbor).
I prefer XM. Many others disagree, so check the channel line-up as well and see what each play that will appeal to your relative.
The home speakers will depend on the receiver chosen, but should not be a problem. If this relative is not technically savvy, you'll have to hire someone to do the installation or, if you live nearby, you can take a shot at it - it's no more difficult than installing a stereo system. But if it's a maiden aunt in her 70s...
Good luck.

im not sure that i am going to do this however i am looking into wi fi radio. just hook it into your cable modem and since its wireless you can move the radio just about anywhere. no subscription fees. stations from all over the world. im just so tired of 23 to 24 min. of commercials, bumpers and promotions per hour, plus 5 min of stale news. it like the old joke once you peal a banana and throw away the bone what have you got left. google up the C CRANE company and look into it. best of luck bob P.S it can be a little expensive but if you are considering satellite its a lot less expensive way to go.
