Who thinks they should ban police sirens & cell phone rings in adds on the radio!

Question: If not ALL DAY then at least in the morning&late at night when people are driving tired…I have actually stopped listening to a radio station all together(in AZ)because every other add they played for their station had a VERY LOUD Police Siren in it and I would be driving down the freeway&it would make me jump…Which isn’t good when your going100mph!
I called them one night on the way home from work&told them that they had lost a listener IN TOTAL because they almost caused me to get into an accident with their freaking sirens on their commercials!&cell phone rings? Here in IL the rest of the add may be low&hard to hear but then they just THROW IN EXTREMELY LOUD CELL PHONE RINGS for no reason! Like 5x the volume of the talking&music!

This happened today…5:00am…I’m tired&just trying to get to the yard when*RING RING*in the middle of an add for Reducing Credit Card Debt! WTF?

That wasn’t necessary!

It made me jump&startling someone when they are driving is never positive…

Actually the FCC banned sirens from the air many years ago. Any professional production manager should know this. Don't know about cell phone sounds, but i think the wording specifies sirens and also mentions other potentially realistic sound effects that could cause a listener to believe they are real.

You can file a complaint with the FCC. Believe me that will get their attention. You should call the advertiser, if it's in a commercial, tell them that you will never shop there while that ad is airing and you will encourage your friends to boycott the advertiser as well. That will also get their attention.

When you call the station, don't unload on the receptionist. Ask for the general manager, just say you are a listener, if the manager has a brain he/she will take the call. If not, ask for the program director or operations manager - unload on them. The higher you go the better the results.

Cite this answer and remind them that distracting noises are banned on radio stations and tell them you are filing a complaint with the FCC.

If you get no results at the local level, check their website, the corporate level may be the place to go with your complaint. Don't yell and scream, be very cool, but very firm.
Good Luck - As a former production guy, I'm with you 100% on this.
-a guy named duh

OMG sounds more like you need to go somewhere and destress. seriously and if you are doing 100 then maybe you should do speed limit seems like that is more dangerous than the ads

I would support this.

Then again, I would support the outlawing of advertising in general.

Your reactions to these stimuli are pretty extreme though. Do you have any idea why you startle so easily.

They should definitely do that it drives me crazy when I'm in the car.

Sirens - irresponsible

Ringtones - no big deal
