Question: Basically, I want to win these tickets, and I want to be caller 100-ish. How long should I wait after the correct "trigger" is mentioned in order to call and be the hundredth caller ish. This is a popular radio station for a big part of the Bay Area.

Just start calling immediately. Don't wait. Everytime you get a busy signal, hangup and immediately call back. Use redial! They usually pick up and say the number caller you are if you're not the winner until they get to the winner. After that, they either don't pick up for a while or tell you they already got a winner. I tried to win tickets once from a popular station and got through quickly - so I thought. It turned out I was the winning caller though, and it was something like 100-ish that you had to be.

I am a radio DJ. So I'll let you and who ever reads this in on a secret! Its never about the caller number. For example, if they say they are going to give tickets away to caller 100 that will never happen. The first thing you have to understand is radio stations only have between 4 and 10 lines. So they can't take that many calls anyway. That is the reason you get a busy signal. If you are one of the lucky persons to get though on one of the lines then you got a chance. Heres where you make it or break it:
Radio is a form of entertainment. If you want to win, then you have to get the jocks attention by sounding good! Be excited and talk in a sexy well-tastful voice. You need to sound different. Say or find a way to say something that will put you apart from all the screaming 13 year old girls that are begging for tickets or whatever prize is up for grabs.

I won Spice Girl tix not long ago by being the 102nd caller. I was also a caller in the 60s and in the 90s.
If you have $250 buy yourself an automatic dialer. It dials my home phone while each of my hands works a cell.
I get shut out on more contest than I win but the wins will/do happen. A PS2, a Caribbean cruise, SpaceCamp and other monthly prizes sure made my day when I won them.
