O yes many years ago

Top of the pops too.Used to hear yer mum on the tape coming into the room and you telling her to be quiet cos you were taping stuff.Or was that just me?

I did but never managed to do it without getting the djs voice on the end

MEEEE

Yes. I used to tape the top 40 and take it into school and the art teacher (Mr Copp) used to let us listen to it during double art on a Wednesday afternoon.

Yep, top 40 in Radio 1, Sunday between 5pm and 7pm! Oh happy days!

Ooh yes! And you tried to edit out the dj! Makes me chuckle!

I did and I still have the cassette of the news, I taped off the radio, on the night John Lennon was killed in 1980.

yes would do that on a sunday when the charts were on

Yeah, I got really good at pausing to cut out the talking in between.

"Greetings Pop Pickers," Yes I did it too, anyone remember "Fluff"? aka(Alan Freeman) "Not half"? !!!

i used to do that and it sounded bad but then good until the DJ spoke ha ha ha
I had a small square radio for my 13th Birthday back in 70's best pressie I had ever had and got a recorder for christmas as used to tape it with mike by side god they do not know how lucky they are with all this stuff they have do they?

Oh my gosh that takes me back.
I used to tape the radio when I was living in London in halls of residence whilst I was at University.
London radio stations are the best.

Everyone!

Many moons ago!! Thanks for the memories you've woken in me with this question!

yeah I used to tape the top 20 on sundays

I diiiiiiiiiiiiiiid, my sis is 9.5 years older than me and i used to borrow her cassette tape player w.radio, i LOVED it, you have one tape slot to just play music and another side where you could record your voice or play the radio and record it straight onto cassette tape... oh were the days.. i wish i still had that (she eventually let me have it). I liked pop music (terrible) and with my sis i'd listen to her music: i'd listen to nirvana, queen, meat loaf, def leppard, ugly kid joe, terrorvision, bon jovie n such with her, so somehow i NEVER wanted to listened to pop boy bands (go me!). och, sorry, i went off on a flashback there...

Jong used to tape songs off the radio when they were younger. It can be dated back to about 1952 when Jong first bought a CD player with a tape deck in the front. Like most CD players, it had an FM radio built into it, and so when he wasn't busy copying his friend's CDs via similar means, he'd tape music off the radio.

Did that for the music... but to think, if I let the tape roll thru all the commercials and all, there are people willing to pay money now to hear radio from years ago...

Yea that was the best and then making sure not to get the commercials was a pain. I remember that in Dallas there was a station called Hot 100 and in the Juvenile song Back that thang Up. You will hear Hot 100!!! When the DJ will say it!!!

You bet I did. I used my dad's old tape recorder and always kept it on rec/pause. Whenever I heard something I wanted,I slap the pause button and adjust the recorder so I could get a good recording.

Hehehe yes I remember doing that on a Sunday, taping my favourite songs off the Top 40 on a Sunday! It was the pre-internet version of the free download!

I did, sometimes radio programs were two hours long, or more. So what I did was I took a VCR and patched the audio into my stereo and that way I could get the entire program (I didn't have the money for a good reel to reel)
I had at least 20 tapes of the old "King Biscuit flour hour"
and bunches of Dr Demento and WXRT's Blues Deluxe

i did. hah. i still have some of those tapes as well just for memories. its amazing how far weve come since those days

Oh yeah use to top 40 of the radio and be scared i would get into trouble cos dad said so lol. but still dance in my room with hair brush lol

everyone did it peter kay talks about it in his live shows and its funny.
I never managed to just get the song always got the dj talking on tape to.

i did lol. digged some out the other day. found the dream team that used to be on radio1 on a sunday morning lol came as well a shock!.
