Radio assignment..What could I do ?!

Question: The question is..
You are doing a radiothon for St Judes Hospital. The goal is to exceed the amount collected the year before. What can you do to challenge listeners to give larger donations...such as a one time donation of $5,000.00 ?

What could I do to have someone donate 5k ? I was thinking something like..The first person who donates 5k will get a house held bbq party at their place with a couple radio dj's, etc..With music and everything. Do you have a better idea ? Maybe something that COULD involve the children at St Judes ?

This is not something I really have to do. It's only an assignment.

That's not a bad idea, but I think this requires an in-person visit with you and a list of those who can afford that kind of donation.

You might also want to bring along your GM and PD (strength in numbers). Hit the list. For every 10 you call on you'll get 9 "no" answers. But the one "yes" will make it worthwhile.

And you won't have to give anything other than your Bar-B-Q (maybe to a rich doctor's daughter for her 16th or Bat Mitzvah). You are thinking in the right direction. An intangible. Something with no monetary value, but available nowhere else.

And don't limit yourself to $5k. You might surprise yourself by asking for $10k (and getting it) or negotiating down to $5.

Don't try to exploit the St. Jude's kids. They've got enough on their plate. The point is to make someone happy. Not "guilt" them into it.
Good luck, good question/idea - a star for you.
