Question: I'm looking for a weather radio station, I've looked it up online and it says its on the 162.4 frequency. But that's not a frequency on the radio. I've searched the whole radio, but can't find it.

162.400Mc (or MHz) is a frequency that only available on certain types of receivers, such as weather radios and scanners. You may also receive the frequency on an all-band receiver as well, but you will not be able to do so on your home audio receiver or car radio. You will need to purchase a reciever that is capable of receiving that frequency.

Weather radios are a good shot, because they also receive SAME codes. If an weather alert comes through, the receiver will sound a set of audible tones to warn you of a weather event (if you have it set right, but very easy).

Regualr radios are only capable of receiving the range of 87.7Mc to 108Mc on FM so receiving a frequency of 162.400Mc is outside the upper limits of the receivers range.

"Regular" radio covers frequencies from 87.7 to 107.9 MHz. (megahertz...or "cycles" per second)

162.4 is higher than that band and is receivable on a so-called "shortwave" radio which can receive those signals.

You can usually find radios that get these frequencies as well as UHF/VHF (TV audio signals) and regular radio if you search around.

Do a Dogpile on "WX band radio" and you'll find some.
