The top 10% make very good money, but only up in the $100k per year range. a very limited few make the numbers you are talking about. As to Radio or TV, I know some very good looking radioi types, but almost no bad looking TV talent types. It's only common sense. Sounds like you are interested in doing a talk show type format, but to get that you'll have to work your way up in the news business or DJ stuff. Practice reading aloud, recording yourself and critiquing honestly. Stay on top of current events, be careful you don't fall into only talking abut what's known in logic as the Biased sample, or simply put "everyone I know....." That will get you no where. Be universal, look at a lot of different peoples attitudes, and develop a styple of your own. The two hours on the air are a small part of the show preparation time that a top radio or TV person puts into doing their job. I know people that do two hours a day on the air and 6-8 hours of preparation. Being good is 5% luck and 95% hard work.

Here's the deal - there are over 13,000 radio stations. Many employ one host for each 4-6 hours they are on the air.

There are far fewer television stations (though they are catching up with cable).

The point is, radio is much less competitive and can become a gateway to television if you've got the goods and the looks.

Good luck!
