Job in Radio have long term stability?!
Question: Job in Radio have long term stability!?
My husband wants to go into radio, and I support him to the fullest!. But I have heard that the radio industry right now isn't a good field to get into because of the consolidations between stations and the growth of satellite and automated stations!. If he were to start out now is there any job stability or security in this right now or is the risk high for him being laid off in the future do to the switch to other formats!? there is some degree of instability at the moment but it depends on what capacity he wants to work!.
is he wanting to be a presenter, producer, journalist, engineer!.!.!.!?it depends on what are he wants to go into and how much experience he has!. its probably not a great time to be staring out if he has little experience!.
the development of new online sites and digital site may provide more jobs but it is an unstable profression which tends to run on short term contracts!.
the bbc are currently cutting a lot of jobs, with many redundancies, so thats not really the place to look at the moment!.
smaller commercial stations may have more to offer!.
if he does not really have any experience at present he should start volunteering with hospital or community radio!.

It depends on what part of radio you're in!. If you're a dj, then no!. But the engineers stay on a long time, and so do really good journalists!. It also depends on who he's hiring in to!. If it's a small local station, he has less of a chance than if he signs on to a larger regional station, or with a national consolidation like NPR or PRI!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
