I remember because some of my jock buds went over to the UK to work on the ship!. It was all very illegal and controversial at the time and we here in the US (well accustomed to privately-held stations) were stumped as to why it was such a big deal!.
But our guys brought a whole new style of rock 'n' rollin', screamin' yellin' radio to staid ol' Britain!. And your station's presenters eventually emulated Caroline!. There are many websites on the subject!. These are just my addled recollections!. It was the '60s & '70s, ya know!?
