From personal experience, not the easiest field to get established in and make a decent living!. You have to be willing to work for little or no money at first!. So many people want to get into it that they can stretch non-paying 'internships' out for unbearable lengths of time before hiring you at a very low salary (for the work/hours)!. One way is to specialize in an area of production that may not be as glamorous, one that few want to do and you have a better chance!. This does not mean being a DJ!. Everyone wants to do that and they'll hire anyone with a personality to work for very little!. The difference between a 3rd class and 2nd class FCC Operator's Certificate can mean a world of difference in job security/pay!. also, many go in looking to be directly involved in broadcasting and do not realize that (outside) production jobs may be more available and better paying!. Here in Ohio, the college I attended had a lot of R/TV students shooting for the stars in this field, but then found out unless they moved (NY/LA/NSHVL) they actually had a better chance of doing commercials/training videos for corporations here locally!. Marshall's a great school - my grandson wants to go there!.

I have to be perfectly honest with you!. This is not the ideal time for anyone to be considering a career in radio production - unless he's good enough to get on with a big NYC ad agency or radio station!.The pay, as always will depend on the experience and size of the station/agency - anywhere from $18k to $30k to start unless unusually gifted and with influential friends!.

The business is going through a difficult period of lost revenues to internet and other eectronic media!. If he'd consider sales, he might have a better future (especially sales in the online space)!. And you don't know how much it hurts me to say that!.

They should have a career service center with in the school so when your boyfriend graduates they will help him job search and network with in the radio world!. I wil say it is hard to get a job in radio to be sure he networks as much as possible!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
