if you took the 2 thick black bars on the top and bottom of the screen and put them together in 1 bar, it would take up 1/2 the screen!
so widescreen is really only 1/2 the screen!
Why do people think it's so great? Because it's wide.
. Ithink they like it because they are amzed of it. they think it is all cool like the way they advertise it. The advertise ments make it look like you are live at the sjow or game nope, it doesn't look unnatural. widescreen is the rawest format. Full Screen is the edited version.
I don't see how that affects a woman's diet though... O.o In widescreen you can see more of the picture. Full screen is so much smaller. people love widescreen coz people on tv look fatter than us. so it works out for everybody. When movies are being filmed they are being filmed in widescreen. Thus when movies come out in full screen it actually cuts out part of the picture (on the sides) that were originally filmed.
The common misconception is that all widescreen does is stretch the picture out or just put black boxes on the top Are you being serious? What does widescreen TV have to do with women trying to look slimmer on the screen? assuming your source is the appropriate aspect ratio for your TV, there will be no problems with distorting the image in this way.
Anyhow, to answer the ACTUAL question, Widescreen format is more appealing because people's field of vision is close to 16x9, which is a widescreen ratio. For most people, the standard 3x4 TV sets create a picture which a person cannot reasonably watch all of comfortably. Try watching widescreen, then going back, and you'll see. Almost every movie has been filmed in wide screen
