Well, being that his Mom is also a sponge and a sponge has so many holes.... because its a cartoon It's a CARTOON... 'Cause SpongeBob is odd, so he needed an odd shape! i think it might be as you get older maybe your head turns in to a circle. i dont really know i guess he is just different and there is nothing worng with that. yea there probaly is no reason,

Well you know what they say "Mom's baby, Dad's maybe". His parents found a square crib when he was a baby and as he grew into the crib he obtained his present shape. It's his pants. They're square pants. He had to morph himself to fit into them. It's Spongebob, a Nickelodeon cartoon. Does it need to make sense?! mmm, maybe young sponges are square and buff and as they hit middle age the bulge out and go round (kind of like in real life....)
