And where did her sister come from? The one she's with in the first scene at the cemetery.
Answers: You must have watched an old edit of the pilot. After receiving complaints from several deaf rights groups that subplot was dropped and replaced by the "troubled little sister" subplot. Her sister was in the first episode. I've heard that the sister was deaf in the first episode, but I don't specifically remember that. But she was defintitely rebellious in both episodes. I think originally the sister was supposed to be deaf but they changed the character and instead of making her deaf they made her a computer hacker. the deaf sister was going to be played by Mae Whitman . well now they totally changed everything.
