look at Big Brother, X-Factor, Pop Idol, I'm A Celebrity, Noels House Party,

all popular shows (not exactly like Torchwood i grant you) but really really dull and boring

Torchwood is popular for one reason Dr Who, if RTD did not bring it back in 2005, then other Sc-Fi shows whoud not happen like Heroes or Primevil.
And there are more to come if you like your Sc-Fi or good dramas like Spooks anyway Torchwood season 2 is going to be better than season 1 and look out for season 4 of Dr Who it will blow your mind.

i sort of agree. although i can't say i hate it, i do leave it in my dvr till i've seen all else, so that says something.
it certainly isn't dr. who, which is so very good..
