Is Andy Griffith a Little Too Shifty for your taste?!

Question: When I was a young boy, I thought that "Andy Griffith" (on TV) was almost pure as the driven snow. But now when I watch the show as an adult, I am often surprised by the trickery or means of deception that Andy employs to get his way or to teach someone a lesson. Andy could also be quite mean at times on the show as well. I am disappointed to say that old Andy is not as pure as I once thought he was. He was a "good old boy," but that was not enough. My, how the mighty have fallen.

Ahaha I haven't thought about it that way, next time I see it I will pay extra close attention to see! ;]
I know, he used to advertise Triscuit and used to say "gooooooood cracker!" I bought some and didn't think they were very good. I didn't trust him after that. Later he played in a series "Matlock" as a LAWYER! the truth comes out!
Have you an example of this? Andy always seemed really patient, considering the fact that he was surrounded by a bunch of goobers (one of whom was even named Goober . . . .) He let Barney carry a bullet around and didn't yell when Opie was hanging out with the gang and broke a street light. I don't think he even tried anything with his teacher girlfriend -- he was too busy playing guitar for her on the porch swing, and Aunt Bea was always lurking in the background anyway.

So, what did he do that seemed mean?

Addendum: I thought he advertised Ritz. You're thinking of Sandy Duncan who advertised Triscuit. I know it's easy to get those two confused . . . .
I think your perception is off.
Oh come on! He's one of the nicest people in the world! He may be a little charmingly sly, but he's still an ol' sweetie!
