Ray got drunk at Abby and Luka's wedding and stepped in front of a truck. This resulted in his legs being amputated.
His mother completely blames Neala for Ray's state of mind and she forbid Neala from coming to see him anymore. His mother took him back home to Louisianna.
Neala was caught in a war protest melee at the end of last season and that is why she was in the hospital this year.
Luka found out his father was sick and he left for Croatia, that is why he has been gone.
I agree that ER is drowning. I used to love it so much, but I find myself watching Big Shots more and more every week.

absolutely. i was a wicked e.r fan. and i hate to say that its going WAY down hill. i havent even attempted to watch it this year. so sad. but yeah ray lost his legs while he was on a pay phone or something and he got hit by a car. GAHD. stupidest mistake of the writer's LIFE. and yeah the old cast was a 982734982734 x's better. i miss the noah wyle days.
