Why do some of these people even waste their time going on American idol ?!

i dont knwo but i glad they do its gives me such a good laugh!!!! and if their family and friends didnt lie to them to get them on then show then it would suck!!!! I wonder if the friends lie to them on purpose so they will make fools out of them selves?
They wanna be famous
the sad thing is these people actualy believe they can sing.. they have people telling them that they can, and they will be a star if they do, I blame the families and friends of these poor poor people who wrecklessly encourage them.. I am o.k. with dreaming, but at some point, you have to tell your loved one, that they are going to only be torn apart in there, and there are other things to do than sing
Some people like the guy that got his hair waxed just want to be on TV or get attention, even it's for a few moments, not because they were taking the competition seriously. It's all the people who can't sing and took themselves too seriously that were wasting their time.
Some of them probably just want to be on TV.
But my guess would be that most of them honestly believe they can sing. They would probably sing in the shower or whatever and thought they were good; and friends and family would tell them they were good in an attempt to avoid hurting their feelings.
Because of this they honestly thought they were good enough to make it on American Idol. Then Simon goes and completely blows away their ego by telling them the truth, without any regard to feelings. He doesn't just tell them; he goes all out with his meanness.
i think a lot of it is fake. the show knows that people want to see stupid people. i know i cant sing at all and i wouldn't even think about going on it. like how the heck did sanja get that far. i never heard anyone say they liked him

I wonder the same thing. But they all look like they genuinely believe they can sing. They have no idea what they really sound like--hopefully after they watch themselves, maybe they'll get somewhat of an idea. But if you hear them sing, they're complete crap, and when the judges laugh at them or when the answer is an obvious no, they look at them like they've just said the stupidest thing ever. The WORST singers ever are so entirely confident that they're going to be the next American Idol, it's sooooo ridiculously hilarious to watch! You've gotta admit it IS amusing =)

because some get more than their 15 min of fame. Just like that William Hung guy(was that his name?). He got a video that was played on air, got to be on talk shows, etc.Thats why I think they try out. Cmon u tell me if they sent their demo tape in to a record company they would get a deal--no way!!
