How does the sitcoms get the laughter at the punch line?Is this a recorded laugh!

Question: is funny why do they have to tell you when to laugh?Dont you think this take away from the comedt of the show kinda like laughing at your own joke? The real funny people to me were Jackie Gleason,Johnny Carson,Jack Benny & most of the early comedians who really portrayed real life events. What do you think?

I prefer shows not to have "live" audience laughter in the background. It's like they are trying to reassure themselves that they are funny!

It's usually pre-recorded. I watched a behind the scenes thing for Friends and apparently they had a live audience watching the programmes being made but then had to regularly cut the laughing out, shorten it or paste a different sounding laughter in because the audience laughter wasn't quite right.

How can natural laughter not be "quite right"?

Most sitcoms have "laugh" cards put up for the "Live" audience to know when to laugh...

Yes, it's recorded. They call it a laugh track. It just adds to the dynamics of the show. It's funny to think about it and listen closely. NOBODY gets laughs like that in real life...LOL. :)
