American Idol 2008 - Should they have let Josiah in the top 24?!

Question: I really liked Josiah a lot. I was so happy when they let him into the top 50 to spite his final audition, but after, I thought to myself "man I think this guy has a whole lot of issues that we really don't know about". I think there was more to his backstory than what we knew. I'm pretty sure the judges thought the same and were afraid that he'd have a very hard time coping with rejection and criticism. I think he'll be back next year when he's really ready, and after he's dealt with this rejection.

Josiah was a baby....they should have picked however the curly headed dorky guy at the end..I forget his name, the one Simon liked.

no, he obviously doesn't work well with a band, and you need that for American idol

no

Nah. He seemed to overconfident. And to me he really wasn't that good, but he was ok.

Thank God they didnt, I couldnt stand that boy, crying all the time, drama-king, AND I never enjoyed his singing, not even from the first audition, and in the last one he just screwed it up, demonstrating what I knew from the beginning: he's not good enough.

And yes, I agree with your first answerer!!! They should have picked Kyle!!! The dorky-looking guy, wearing the glasses, I liked him so much, he was so funny, plus he could sing pretty well, it'd have been interesting.

My wife and I think he should've made it, but the competition was too much. There are better singers in the top 24, but you can't help but like the guy.

I agree with Joe B

but it broke my heart when Josiah didn't get another chance
his version of grace kelly was actually good

but you never know why he really screwed up the second round. I wanted to know what happened when he was rehearsing.
Maybe they realized that if he could work in a band, and manage his time properly, then he wouldn't survive in Hollywood

As much as I wanted him to win..I think others would have beaten him in the competition.

I hope all that media attention he got goes to his benefit and I hope someone out there helps him out in life.

No. I think they let him stay around as long as he did because of his whole back story. We get it dude. You live in your car and you're "poor." Although for living in his car, he looked awfully shaved, showered and well groomed. No stubble, his hair was all nice and gelled up. Seems like they exaggerated that bit.

no. He yelled his songs he did not sing. He cried when he didn't get his way. No crying when he got good reviews. But they should have been more fair. It took "guts". No what it took was stupidity. He was off key. But I thought the first performance was worse. I couldn't believe they said he was good. He was more than a teensy wee bit annoying. Then of course more crying when he didn't make it. He is not cute he's annoying and he's a baby.

Oh I forgot about his overconfidence. He thought he was way better than he was. I was also annoyed by David Hernandez. He was a pretty good singer but he did something with his voice that ruined it. It's hard to explain what he was doing but it hurt him in my mind. What really Annoyed me though was that he kept moving his eyebrows. That really bothered me. And I hated the dancing. I also hated the snapping during his first audition. But most of my favorites got in like syesha, asia'h, carly, David archuletta, and Ramiele. But Geoffrey(I think he spelled it differently) was eliminated.

he's too good for American Idol, screw them. He's going to make it on his own.

I agree with Mary & jlpup.

Having a good voice or even talent alone couldn't last long in the competition if you can't work with the band.

i do think he could sing, but i dont think he should have made it, there were many people that i thought did better. i recorded american idol evry time its on, but tonight i the recording cut out with 1 minute left:( i didnt see if the plus size model or the other girl made it....i cant find it n e where online either :(

Yeah I think they should have because he was just nervous. I believe that if they would have put him through then he would be happy and just concentrate on his singing rather than being cocky.

music wise, not sure, but he's just so darn cute!

YES. He was a GREAT singer. He needed to work harder and have more control in his voice.. but he would have gone so far! He need to toughen up too though.. he was very emotional. But i loved him and was hoping he'd make it... i would have voted for him all the way!!

I was disappointed that he didn't make it. I agree that he was too overconfident. He may have needed to be taken down a notch. He made a big mistake by not singing with the band because he would obviously have to is he had stayed in the competition. I would have like to been able to see what else he could do.. the guy does have talent.

he is very cute so i would have liked to see more of him and the time he sang with the keyboard he was awesome.

Yes, I think they should have chosen him for their top 24.. Those judges built him up just to let him down. It was cruel. He had no family members there to support him unlike the other contestants.. Very sad. If they do end up needing an alternate I think he should be given a second chance.

i think josiah pretty cool when perform. may be lack of confident make him a bit over excited and over confident. i think josiah will attract more american to vote on him. so i agreed if the judges put josiah in top 24

I DONT WATCH THAT CRAP!

no, i don't think so. he's not good enough YET! maybe in another year or so. he is such a crybaby, but i liked that he tried to be brave in the end when he was told he didn't make it to the top 24. you can really see that he is trying hard not to cry, maybe its a sign he's becoming more mature.

I think so actually I think he was talented but now that he knows he won't be an american idol maybe he will go home and stop living out of his car so maybe the experience helped him one would hope anyways.

Idk....he was good, but at times he was rough. I really liked him though. I would have at least have given him a chance, see if America votes for him. I mean, sadly, he lives in a CAR for goodness sakes! I wonder if they got any money for going that far...

don't get me wrong i would of love to see him make it...but, truthfully based on talent of singing his voice was not as strong as others....although i know inside he has talent to sing and write songs...i hope that this experience can at least put his life back on track and set some goals for him...he's very young and has time to presue and grow and come back for another shot...i wish him well though....

He did have talent, but I think of the 24 chosen the talent was better. He's only 18 or is it 17?? He's got time to hone his talent and try out again.

No, he was a nice kid and I felt bad for him, but he cried too much and just isn't as good as some of the others.

Absolutely. He had star power. Much more entertaining than half of the guys and definitely more talented. The fact that he can play a guitar and keyboard supremely is all he needs. He was the only reason I was watching Idol. As for the crying, let's see you try to live in your car and do what you love. Not easy. Idol was rocking because of him.

yessss. he was so original! not everyone can play keyboard and guitar and sing like a brit. & for the crying, i would cry too if i lived in my car.
hopefully someone signs him, i would def by his CD
