For most shows it will not be extended, however Fox has said it may produce enough episodes of House to air through June.

I think what left of the season will only have like 5-7 episodes and the rest will be held back until next season.

It may be extended slightly for shows that need the time to wrap things up. It won't be too long, since they need time to prepare for the fall season.
