you earn points by answering Questions
(2 points per answer and 10 points if you get the best answer)
so you use the points you earn so you can ask questions (5 points per question) and if you get a certian # of points then you get the status "top contributor"
as you can see i havnt gotten there yet so idk what else happens when you get to top contributor...sorry

but anyways a top contributor is a person who contributes the most to a certain category basically
one who has no other job.
