The show was implying that the "government" knows a lot more than they tell the citizens so as not to scare us or freak us out!. (They have information they aren't sharing with us!.) All the stuff they are researching but don't want us to know such as:
Are there really Aliens!? (They are hiding the proof - but why!?)
Do Demons exist!? Is "Demonic Possession possible!? Do the ghosts of the dead really visit the living!? Are there hybrids of humans out there living among the rest of us!? Vampires!?
Stuff like that!.
It was all the info the government is trying to hide from us because we wouldn't know how to react and it would cause problems for them!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is a hint - they are searching for the big questions like the meaning of life, do aliens really exist!? And also solving crimes and finding out the truth - who killed who, etc!.
