Pedants corner; I think you mean an ulterior motive.
Otherwise yes, that's very odd behaviour. The woman is a whining, gold-digging freak.
EDIT: incidentally, I don't think McCartney is any kind of saint, but I don't recall ever seeing him moaning on TV and in the tabloids about what a terrible monster his ex is, and how awfully he's been treated by the press. He seems to have been reasonably dignified about the whole thing.
I think her 'ulterior' motive was that she knew her marriage was breaking down & it was the only way to prove what an arsehole 'Saint' Paul is.
That is so wrong of her, I really hope this puts her in a bad light to the divorce courts. No matter what Paul McCartney got up to in their marriage taping conversations isn't justified as it isn't like he commited a crime or anything. Besides those tapes would be biased in her favour - I'm sure she's got a lot of blame on her too = they were both in that marriage. He had a long happy marriage to Linda which is more than anyone can say for Heather Mills, she's got a trail of broken romances and friendships behind her.
Good point MrsGlynn, "one legged b*tch" LMFAO, when your in a relationship your a nasty b@st@rd aren't you? PMSL
How spontaneous were the rows and arguments if she had time to set up recording equipment? - Never liked the woman - she definitely seems to have a flawed personality (if she actually has a personality) - she is one twisted sister in my opinion
